The M32 6-speed gearbox is fitted to most Vauxhall, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo models. It suffers from a specific bearing design fault. Check your car for:
Stage 1: The "Whine" (5th & 6th Gear) A high-pitched whining noise when driving above 40mph. It usually disappears when you press the clutch pedal down.
Stage 2: The "Stick Nod" Watch your gear stick when you lift off the accelerator in 1st or 5th gear. Does it twitch or move backward? This means the bearings have collapsed and the shaft is physically moving.
Stage 3: The Crunch & Bang Difficulty selecting gears, loud crunching, or total loss of drive. At this point, the casing may be damaged.
