VAG DSG & S-Tronic Specialist Repairs: VW, Audi, SEAT & Skoda
As independent VAG transmission specialists, we provide an honest, cost-effective alternative. We don't just replace entire gearboxes; we diagnose, strip, and rebuild your DSG or S-Tronic unit down to the component level.
When your direct-shift gearbox starts acting up, it can be an incredibly stressful experience. A flashing PRNDS light, harsh juddering on takeoff, or the vehicle suddenly dropping into limp mode usually comes with the fear of a massive main-dealer repair bill.

VAG Models We Work On
We have the dealer-level diagnostic tools (ODIS / VCDS) and the mechanical expertise to repair both wet and dry clutch DSG systems across the entire Volkswagen Audi Group range:
Volkswagen: Golf (Mk5 to Mk8, including GTI, GTD, & R), Passat, Scirocco, Arteon, Tiguan, Touran, and Transporter (T5/T6).
Audi (S-Tronic): A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, Q3, Q5, TT, and S/RS performance variants.
SEAT: Leon (including Cupra), Ibiza, Ateca, Tarraco.
Skoda: Octavia (including vRS), Superb, Fabia, Kodiaq, Karoq.
Specialist Mechatronic Repairs
The Mechatronic unit is the "brain" of your DSG gearbox. It is a complex electro-hydraulic control module that sits inside the transmission, using solenoids and hydraulic pressure to shift gears in milliseconds.
When it fails, main dealers will almost always quote for a brand-new, extremely expensive replacement unit. We repair them.
Common Mechatronic Faults We Fix:
Complete loss of drive or dropping out of gear.
Missing gears (e.g., losing all even gears or all odd gears).
"Gearbox Error: You can continue driving" dashboard warnings.
Hydraulic pressure leaks or blown accumulators (especially common in DQ200 7-speed dry clutch units).
Our Repair Process: We remove the mechatronic unit, test it on the bench, and replace faulty solenoids, cracked accumulator housings, or damaged printed circuit boards (PCBs). If the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) is completely fried, we can supply a remanufactured unit and clone your vehicle's original immobiliser data directly onto it.
DQ380 & DQ381 7-Speed Wet Clutch Specialists
If you drive a modern, high-torque VAG vehicle built after 2017, it likely utilises the DQ381 (or the closely related DQ380) 7-speed wet clutch transmission. While highly advanced, we are seeing these units in our workshop with increasing frequency as they rack up mileage.
Vehicles Utilising the DQ380 / DQ381:
This gearbox is typically paired with the 2.0 TSI (petrol) and 2.0 TDI (diesel) engines on the MQB platform.
VW: Golf Mk7.5 & Mk8 (GTI, R, GTD), Arteon, Tiguan, T-Roc R.
Audi: S3 (8V and 8Y), Audi TT (8S), Q3.
SEAT/Cupra: Leon Cupra 290/300, Cupra Formentor, Ateca.
Skoda: Octavia vRS, Superb 2.0 TSI/TDI.
Common DQ381 Issues:
Delayed Engagement: A noticeable hesitation when shifting from Park to Drive or Reverse.
Mechatronic Failure: Often throwing fault codes related to hydraulic pump play or pressure sensor faults.
Clutch Drag/Judder: A vibration felt right at the biting point when pulling away from a standstill. We have the specialised tooling required to safely extract, rebuild, and re-calibrate the DQ381 clutch packs and mechatronic units to exact factory tolerances.
Preventative Maintenance: DSG & Haldex Servicing
The single best way to avoid a costly DSG rebuild is strict, preventative maintenance. We don't just fix broken gearboxes; we help you protect healthy ones.
DSG Fluid & Filter Servicing
Wet-clutch DSG gearboxes (like the DQ250, DQ381, and DQ500) submerge their clutch packs in oil. Over time, this oil degrades and fills with microscopic friction material. If you ignore the 38,000 to 40,000-mile service interval, this contaminated oil will destroy your mechatronic solenoids.

Haldex AWD Servicing (Quattro / 4Motion)
If you drive a 4WD model—such as a VW Golf R, Audi S3, or Skoda Kodiaq—your car uses a Haldex pump to transfer power to the rear wheels. The fluid in this pump turns to a thick sludge over time, clogging the internal filter mesh and burning out the pump, leaving you with a front-wheel-drive car. We offer comprehensive Haldex servicing, including pump removal and mesh cleaning, which goes far beyond the basic main-dealer fluid drop.

Don't Let a DSG Fault Write Off Your Car
If you are experiencing warning lights, juddering, or missing gears, catching the fault early is vital.
